For the record: I am not watching the new
Pirates of the Caribbean movie this weekend. Nor any weekend for that matter. I hated the first film. Don't look at me like that. It's not like I just came out in support of slavery or genocide. I just thought the first film was an inane, heavy-handed, paper-thin, tired, and ultimately pointless generic action flick with some good acting from Mr. Johnny "Good Actor" Depp.
In other news, I saw
The Coup last weekend with some friends. They put on a fucking amazing show. I danced. If you know me, you'll understand the weight of that sentence. I danced. I don't dance. But I danced.
Admittedly, I danced in a fashion that was surely laughable (maybe it was my persistent social paranoia, but I could swear there were actually a couple of laughs from assorted attendees directed at me). But it was, indeed, dancing, if you're willing to define "dancing" liberally.
